The future of sports physical therapy lies in the discoveries of clinical investigators and academic researchers.  In order to assure the continuation of essential sports physical therapy research, the Sports Physical Therapy Section has established the Legacy Fund to leave a legacy of research excellence for the advancement of sports physical therapy practice.

The purpose of the Legacy Fund is to invest in clinically relevant sports physical therapy research by providing research funding and mentorship to the members of the Sports Physical Therapy Section. Priority will be given to proposals that have the potential to develop into peer reviewed publications, larger clinical projects, and/or subsequent foundation or federal level funding.

Now is the time to submit! Eligible are Sports Physical Therapy Section members who are clinicians, doctoral students, or junior faculty in academic or clinical settings may apply for funding.  Junior faculty must be less than five (5) years from their doctoral or post-doctoral training at the time of application.

Deadline is 5 PM EDT, January 5, 2015.

SPTS Kevin Wilk Traveling Fellowship Host Site Request for Proposal

The Sports Physical Therapy Section (SPTS), APTA, is requesting proposals to become a future site for the SPTS Kevin Wilk Traveling Fellowship opportunities for Fall of 2015 through Spring 2017.

The SPTS created the SPTS Kevin Wilk Traveling Fellowship to satisfy the need for an advanced educational experience in a compressed time frame. Fellows spend a single week traveling to three educational sites, spending one to two days each with noted leaders in our field. At each site, fellows will be involved in various activities.

The SPTS Traveling Fellowship is funded by SPTS and corporate sponsor DJO Global, which allows a class of three SPTS members to participate twice each year.

Fellowship locations are needed to host the fellows and to provide a dynamic learning environment, sports experience and social and networking opportunities.

Applications will be accepted for the next two years until midnight, CST, January 1, 2015. Questions may be directed to Rob Manske.
