SPTS Partner Program

In 2004, The Executive Committee of the Sports Section approved a proposal to establish the Partner Program of the Sports Physical Therapy Section. A Partner of the Sports Section is any individual, not eligible to become a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), who desires to receive selected benefits and participate in section activities that in turn would contribute to the development of the profession through collaborative efforts. These partnerships will result in increased knowledge about sports physical therapy, the profession, and the Association and, therefore, will provide positive effects on the healthcare delivery system in the United States and abroad.

Partner benefits are for one year (renewable), and they include:

  • Access to some "Member's Only" pages on the SPTS website
  • Placement on the Section's general mailing list, which includes invitations to participate in our Special Interest Groups, publications, and SPTS educational programming.
  • Unlimited on-line access to the Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy (JOSPT)
  • Unlimited on-line access to the North American Journal of Sports Physical Therapy (NAJSPT)
  • Reduced fees (member rates) for SPTS meeting registrations and publications

SPTS Partners are prohibited by the SPTS bylaws from participating in activities exclusively reserved for APTA members such as voting in elections and serving as elected officers. However, they will benefit from section communications and will learn more about sports physical therapy as the SPTS learns more from their professions! These multidisciplinary interactions have the potential to benefit patients, students, and scientists and will provide the opportunity to inform other professionals about sports physical therapy.
