Proposed Agenda

I.                Mission Statement:The Residency Special Interest Group exists to promote and enhance residency and fellowship training within sports physical therapy. The Residency SIG will act as a facilitator for its members to optimize communication and share best-practices to enhance post-professional education and graduate outcomes.

II.              Goals (2010-2013)

a.      Re-evaluate the leadership positions and associated responsibilities. (Completed - John)

b.      Grow its membership to over 100 members. (Update - Craig)

c.      Revise and update Residency 101 presentation and continue programming at either CSM or TCC. (Completed, John)

d.     Establish a competitive slate of newly developing residency grant applicants. (One application in 2011.  Financial needs will be a requirement for grant per EC - Hunter-Giordano)

e.      Establish a liaison relationship between the Section and the ABPTRFE. (Not complete, 3 members of residency SIG are on the board or Program Services Council)

f.       Consistently review website to ensure information is accurate. (Complete, updates have been made – Craig)

g.      Produce quarterly newsletter published on the Section website. (Complete – Craig) **Big thanks to Craig Garrison**

h.     Increase newly credentialed programs by three per year. (Not Complete – 2 new programs and 3 re-credentialed; 7 in development)

III.             Updates

a.      Sports Residency SIG Update

                                      i.     Emergency Responder Course  Discount – Board Approved

                                     ii.     Grant funding for developing programs – Board Approved(Need to promote!)

                                   iii.     Sports Residency Research Presentations – Friday, February 10th, 3:30

b.      ABPTRFE Update

                                      i.     Centralized application process, Mentor initiative, CEU for faculty members
