Minimum Eligibility Requirements
for Physical Therapy Specialist Certification in Sports

• Applicants must hold a current license to practice physical therapy in the United States
• Application review and examination fees apply.
• The applicant must be currently certified in CPR Level "B" by the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross Community Certification or the Professional Rescuer CPR certification. Evidence of certification must be provided. SPTS offers Emergency Responder Courses which provides this certification as well as training in other emergency response skills.
• Applicants must have extensive direct patient care experience
• Applicants must chart their physical therapy experience as part of the process
• A written examination is required, testing the application of advanced knowledge and clinical skills.
